Friday Night Live At the
Royal Lion Click here
Weekly TV Show Broadcast Live from
the Monmouth Room at the Royal Lion with Invited Guests, Live Music
and Regular Features. 9pm to 10.30 Every Friday
This week, presenter Alan Vian chats with Ayvin Rogers and Oli Dixon, inspirers of the Lyme Youth
Arts B# project. Pam Milton,
one of our Carnival 'Golden Queens' collected comments on B#,
proving that you don't have to be under 25 to be young and youthful
in Lyme Regis! Alan and
Mary cover events for the week
ahead, The Beard provided the
topical song, and Julian Shaw
performed a selection of songs, and before you ask, yes, by
public demand already, we're inviting Julian back to do another set.
You'll notice that we are gradually sorting
out the techie gremlins associated with converting the Monmouth Room
into a live studio, and keep your eye on the top of the page for the
'best of' video of the first four weeks. Next
Week: Friday Night Green, features
Mary & Martin, singing
songwriters from Exeter, and Giles
Frampton will talk about eco-building, and Turn Lyme Green.
Still room for anyone else who wants to chat about Low Carbon or
related issues? Please join us at the Royal
Lion for the Live recording, and hear it online from 6pm Sunday
afternoons.....

MAKING
WAVES Being the
Change. The Sharpham Centre, Ashprington,
Totnes, Devon. TQ9 7UT. 27/28th August 08. Click here This week, Mary and Nomad had a rare
couple of days out of town and had a most excellent time at the
Sharpham Centre for thier annual 'Making Waves' week of life
changing talks. We had planned the trip initially to record Mukti
Mitchell, but then we heard that Rob Hopkins of Transition Towns was
giving a talk........ Rob Hopkins.
Founder of the Transition Towns Network. The
Transition Model: From Oil Dependency to Local Resilience This
was a fascinating talk from the founder of this fast growing
movement to which new towns are signing up every day, most recent
being Lewes, and more than 100 towns are now actively involved in the
scheme. Rob first talks about 'Peak Oil' and its implications for
our whole way of life, and by using the first Transition town,
Totnes, as an example, discusses how other towns might develop
their own approach. Lyme Regis should be part of this! The
Transition Model is not about the sentimental approach to saving our
world, its about the changes that are already inevitable and how we
might benefit positively from these changes. For further info on
the Transition Towns Network, see these websites: http://www.transitiontowns.org/ http://totnes.transitionnetwork.org/ http://transitionculture.org/ In 3 Parts, Video to
follow. |

Mukti Mitchell. The Low
Carbon Lifestyle. Click here
How low carbon lifestyles
improve the quality of life. You might remember Mukti's talk in
Lyme at the Marine Theatre. At that time it was difficult to get a
good recording, so here is Mukti's talk again, in a quiet intimate
environment talking about the simple, positive changes we can all
make to our live to reduce our carbon footprint, and still enjoy
life.
In 3 Parts, Video interview with Mukti to follow.

The Sidmouth Gospel Choir
Click
here An excellent performance with superlative harmony
singing by this choir in St. Michaels Church. One thing I love
about gospel is the obvious love for singing, and there is no doubt
that these guys love to sing. One of a regular series of concerts
organised by Alex Davies in aid of the Lyme Regis Organ Appeal, and
if after hearing this you want to make a donation, go to www.lymeregisorganappeal.com

Candles on the Cobb Click here LRPBC Candles on
the Cobb is arguably the most successful, most popular, and most
original event ever produced in Lyme Regis. Devised and masterminded
by Phil Street and Mike Higgs, the champion fund raisers of Lyme,
the event, besides being spectacular, provides an opportunty for
vistors and locals to remember loved ones, and also raises an awful
lot of money for charity.
